If you wish to end your tenancy, you must provide formal written notice in line with your tenancy agreement. Please read the guidance below carefully to ensure your notice is valid.
Notice Period
You are required to give a minimum of two months’ notice.
When Notice Must Be Given
Your notice must be served:
- On the first day of a rental period (before 4:30pm), or
- On the last day of a rental period
If notice is received outside of this timeframe, it will be treated as being served on the next valid date.
Examples
Example 1 (Valid Timing):
If your rent is due on the 1st of each month and you serve notice on:
- 1st May before 4:30pm → your notice will run from May, and your tenancy will end at the end of June
Example 2 (Late Notice):
If your rent is due on the 1st and you serve notice on:
- 2nd July → this is outside the valid window, so your notice will be treated as served on the next valid date (1st August)
→ your tenancy will therefore end at the end of September
